Dental Question

My 90 year old father had 4 front teeth removed 7 days ago and he is still in a lot of pain and on a diet of soup and paracetamol. Do dentists take into account a person's age when they perform extractions? I think at his age the healing process must take longer and 4 extractions in one go is heavy handed and is just a money saving exercise.
