Let me preface this by saying on a scale of 0 to Cynical, I'm Foamy the Squirrel (Google it if you missed that), as is the guy I train with (competitive power lifter). Especially when it comes to nicely packaged formulae, etc.

I've always had a shot of black coffee 10 minutes before a workout and it's served me well, but I was convinced today to try one of these instead (coffee, unsalted, grass fed butter and virgin coconut oil.

It worked an absolute treat. I honestly felt great. I know some people are taking it as a meal replacement, etc but I'm just interested in hearing people's experiences with it as part of training rather than for any weight loss reasons.

Coffee with the lowest toxin rate possible
Unsalted, grass fed butter
Coconut oil

That's what he uses anyway.

Could I use my cold brew coffee for this? As I understand it one of the benefits of cold brewing is the lower toxicity? Or maybe that's just acidity????
Getting the butter to melt might be an issue. Or is it heated after the brewing process?

I'm going to buy a manual press at the weekend. Any recommended beans?

No - and the whole bit about the mycotoxins in the regular run-of-the-mill coffee makes me just slightly cynical about the whole thing.

So people drink a cup of caffeine laden fluid, with some fat in it - and feel more energy. Excellent. Why it has to be made from coffee beans grown on top of a mountain, fed only by pure spring water, harvested at the full moon by glove-wearing virgins and then lovingly pressed within the hour, by some mystical means..... - hah!

Emperor's new clothes?

And no I haven't tried it, but I feel just fine with a normal cup of coffee with milk in for my morning drink. The thought of blending butter and coconut oil (extract) in makes me feel nauseous.
I think it's been overcomplicated.

You can buy into the toxin thing if you like (personally I haven't had time to look into it).

The benefits of unsalted, grass fed butter aren't exactly a secret. Ditto the coconut oil.

To be honest I'm only worried about how it helps my workout after work and the combination gives me a steady buzz for the duration and well after it.
