Figured it won't be 2014 for much longer!

I've been training for strength since October after an 8 week transformation course which is probably the best thing I ever did. In august I was a fat, inflexible, unhealthy mess and a few months later I'm in good shape and have got a serious buzz for powerlifting.

Current PBs are 160kg deadlift, 80kg bench and 140kg squat at 78kg.

Aiming for 210kg deadlift, 110kg bench and 170kg squat by the end of March. This would put me around the middle of the pack for the 82.5kg raw class in the Irish Drug Free PL comps in August 2015.

Still enjoying newbie gains at the minute so I'll need to see what happens between now and then before setting any longer term goals, but in a dream world I'd like a triple bodyweight deadlift (240ish kg), 130kg bench and 200kg squat by the end of next year.

I've no doubt progress will slow at some stage next year, but I'll be making the most of it before it does!

What are your own aims for next year? Anyone else working towards a PL/Bodybuilding meet, marathon, triathlon, etc?

Nice. Something I've been neglecting, 20kg off it.

Just getting into the whole Kettle Bell Work out ....
A few Eastern Europeans have rented a smallish room above a shop in my home town and every evening it's absolutely packed with their fellow countrymen doing nothing but kettlebells. And they're all huge.

170kg deadlift tonight and felt like there was more there. Another 40kg by the end of March - 11 weeks away - and I'll be a happy man.

I sometimes train with a guy who is 49. He leaves for work at 6am and gets back at 7pm, gets changed and comes down to the gym.

He's benching 150kg, overhead presses 120kg, deadlifts 250kg and squats 200kg for reps.

No excuses smile

He's a strong dude, used to be stronger until he took a break too. We're trying to convince him to compete in the Masters division at some local meets smile

Last tested bench 1rm about 4 weeks ago. Managed 5 reps of it last night smile

Glad, because out of all my lifts the bench is a fair bit behind.

To clarify then, bodyweight squats AMRAP in 5 minutes?

80kg tonight, should manage a decent number I think. What's a good place to be?

150kg AMRAP 5 mins: http://youtu.be/mueqf8Ftq7Q

sorry it's in low def, it would've been 500mb or something high def and using gym's (limited) wifi.

You can see the power is constant, just fked up hah.
In the nicest way possibly, you're looking a hell of a lot healthier at the minute dude!

Tried this tonight, sat the timer on the phone in front of me a few feet so I could check every now and then.

Managed 30 reps @ 80kg - 10, 7, 5, 4, 4 with a few seconds to spare but I was bust after.

Haven't squatted in 3 weeks though with knee pain so happy at that. Did my working sets after and felt awful (2x5x120kg) then barbell lunges and supersetted extensions, curls and calve raises. Dinner ejected shortly after.

Not 1.25kg? But are you saying that you weigh over 80kg...haha! then it's 85kg for you then my friend! tongue out

I'm gonna weigh myself on the day, I'm hoping for 105kg, but may have to plump for 107.5kg, you saw how strict they were with the 120kg strongman!
There used to be some but they've gone walkies.

Was 79.5kg today. My weight can fluctuate 2kg+/- at times!

Bench has been my weak link since day one but finally making good progress at last.

80kg was my 1RM just before Christmas. Hit this for 5 reps last week so knew I was getting somewhere.

Warmed up tonight then 3x60kg, 1x80kg and finally got 90kg. Felt easy so put another 5kg and got it up with ease. 100kg is definitely nearby at last smile I set a goal of 110-115kg for the end of March in the new year which I wasn't sure I'd make but confident I'll get it now.

215kg is the goal on deadlift (170kg as of 3 weeks ago) and 160-170kg on squat (3x3x120kg last Friday, will test my Max this Friday, hoping for 140kg+)

If I make all those that'll be a 500kg total after 6 months proper training and just in time for the NIPF full power meet. Weight still 80kg and has been for 2 months or so, if it stays there I'll be happy. I can cut bit after April if I feel like it.

Nothing groundbreaking and insignificant in the context of the strength some of you guys have, but over the moon with progress so far.

Squat PB today. 30kg off my target for April now. Entirely mental at this stage, walking out with the weight was the hardest part.

Are those figures for one rep or multiple?
1 rep, cheeky bugger hehe

OHP is strict, no hips or legs.

I haven't actually squatted or deadlifted to failure to be honest, those are just as far as I've pushed so far. As big Benni says, "I'd rather not know how strong I am than know how weak I am!" laugh

That's nuts. Anything over 8 reps with more than 120kg gives me a horrible back pump.

Why cheeky? People often say they can do x, y or z, but with no context. I've never tried to find the 1RM of any discipline. If I can't do at least three, and preferably five, reps at a particular weight, I can't do it all, as far as I'm concerned hehe

Maybe I should give one-off lifts a go?!
FPWM! I intend to compete, so it's useful to know where I am. Although as above, the only ones I've properly tested are bench and OHP.
