Hi I wonder if I could ask some advice.

I broke my ankle, including ligament damage 2 weeks ago. I have had 2 xrays and have my foot in a cast.

For the whole 2 weeks, the top of my toes have felt extremely sesitive to touch but also a bit numb?
And more recently I have noticed a bit of a black bruise type mark on one toe. I also get the occasional stabbing pain in the toe with the mark. The whole top of my foot occasionally aches including toes and feels hot. The cast doesn't feel particularly tight as my foot was very swollen, and I can tell it has gone down a bit as I can move my foot around in the cast a little.

I was in hospital for the last xray 1 week ago and I mentioned toe numbness, the doctor poked them a bit asking if I could feel that etc i can feel everything but they still feel numb if you know what i mean!

Is this quite normal and expected or do I need to press the issue with my doctor? I'm not due back for another three weeks.

Thank you for the reply, I wish I hadn't asked now! I Googled what you said and read all about it, including the potential for foot amputation! I rang the hospital this morning and expressed my concerns and the nurse said to stop looking at the Internet biggrin
Apparently it's quite normal and is a result of serious bruising around the foot that can affect the nerves, But if I want I can go and have it looked at again.

It does seem better today so will see how we get on.

Thanks again biggrin

I appreciate you taking the time to answer Rob. It did feel pretty bad last night and I was sat feeling sorry for myself so thought I'd ask.
I think my mind went into overdrive after reading scary Internet stuff afterwards!

It feels better today and pain relief seems to get rid of any pain so I will keep an eye on it.
