Hi,

I'm long sighted (hyperopia ?) distance vision is 20/20 but have been wearing reading glasses for 4 years now, my prescription during this time has not changed from 1.5 but I am getting more & more annoyed with having to carry pairs of glasses everywhere I go & frustrated with having to take them on & off all day long to carry out my job & if I forget them I'm stuffed.
So today I went for a consultation with regards to laser eye surgery. Although I'd read on the internet that you can have both short sight & long sight corrected I was told today that although they can correct my close up vision it would be at the expense of my distance vision.
He did say though that they can perform laser treatment on one eye ( my non dominant one ) & leave the other so I would be able to see distance with my right eye & close up with my left & that although I may loose a little distance vision I should be able to read once again without the need for glasses.

To give me an idea what it's like he has put a contact lens in my left eye for a week to see how it goes & although I still have a little blurred vision from the drops he put in today early indications are good, I can see to read without the need for glasses for the first time in 4 years & my distance vision doesn't appear to be any worse.

Has anyone had this type of laser eye surgery done ( to one eye ) If so I'd appreciate your thoughts.
I'm a male aged 49 & would be leaning toward lasik rather than lasek.

Regards, Phil
