Could I have had a caffeine overdose.?
Discussion
Had a weird experience at the weekend...I had popped into Costa for a usual chat with friends.
Whilst there I had a large black Americano and then a medium of the same 30 mins later.
Approx 30 minutes after leaving I just started feeling weird and my heart rate seemed to have risen and stayed higher for a good few hours until I went to sleep.
Now I class myself as a fairly fit 45 year old and do plenty of Cardio stuff and cycle over 100 miles in sportives...My pal did say that they thought the Costa worker may have mistakenly put extra coffee shots in my cup.
Can extra caffeine in a short period of time cause problems?

Without doubt, you had too much caffeine. Did you sleep OK?
Over the last 8 years I've become enormously fitter and healthier in all aspects of my life and simultaneously my tolerance to caffeine has nose-dived. I used to drink several coffees a day and would have a double espresso after dinner when eating out. These days if I drink a very strong coffee quickly I get jitters and everything, makes me go a bit nuts and coffee after lunch means I lay awake in bed at night.
After all, caffeine is a drug, it's a natural stimulant, so if you have lots of it it's going to get you off your tits.
