Apologies if there has been a thread on this previously, I'm sure there has, but I didn't have much joy from the search

What's the PH take on the minimum amount of sleep needed to be able to function properly? I know there are plenty of studies out there but they all seem to state something different, anywhere from 5 to 9 hours. I tend to find that I can feel more tired after 10 hours sleep than I can after 6 but I think that is linked to to how deep a sleep you fall in to.

The reason I ask is because I'm currently studying but also working long hours so it's become a case of getting up at 4ish to study before heading out to work, which usually means around 5.5 to 6 hours sleep a night. Is this sustainable in the long term or will I find myself not able to perform everyday tasks at the same level I would on my normal 7 or 8 hours sleep?
