Contact lens supplier - need to have eyetest - who to go to?

I am very unhappy with the service received from my opticians/contact lens supplier.
My last eyetest/contact lens check has expired and I am told I need to have a new check to obtain a supply of contacts.
I need to keep costs down. Please can you advise me of a reputable online supplier online and a company who could perform the eyetest but not tie me into a contract or who provide a prompt postal service at a reasonable cost?
