Pilonidal Cyst -- how long to drive again?
Discussion
Please forgive any spelling errors, this hospital bed keyboard is pants!
To keep it brief, has anyone else on here had the delight of suffering one of these? If so, how long was it before you could drive again? I currently have a hole in me that is packed with gauze and it hurts like hell, juust waant to know how long it might be before i'm driving again!
I've already been looking for cheap automatocs to drive as a stop gap!

sEEMS the NHS firewll doesn't like it either!! Good christing fking god!
I just had the dressing changed and re-packed.
I think that women must have it easy with childbirth! The blood had naturally ccongealed to the ribbon.
Immagine having a plaaster glued to your exposed flesh and then pulled off. That's roughly how painful it waas
For thise who've never had an opeen wound, imagine sticking a scalpel in your butt and pushing it in and out a couple of times!

Well that was an interesting afternoon, lying in bed at the hospital I noticed that I felt very damp, went to the loo and noticed I left a small blood puddle on the floor, turns out the dressing applied by the student nurse had fell out.
So, with slightly worn off pain meds I went through the whole excruciating process again.
But that isn't the best bit, not by a long chalk.
It turns out that the pain medication that they were giving me (Codine) causes constipation, which would explain my lack of bowel movements! The nurses then pointed out that this will put a lot of pressure on the wound when I need to go to the loo.
As soon as I got home I took a Sennakot at the nurse's advice, unfortunately this did nothing to soften the housebrick that was wedged up there. I discovered the presence of said housebrick when I very slowly and carefully eased it out, at the same time managing to eject the packing from the wound for the second time today! Woo hoo.
I rang the hospital and the girl on the phone suggested I just pull the dressing out and reapply, not bloody likely when I don't have my Tramadol yet!!
So, I am now about to try and go to sleep, slowly oozing a delightful mixture of blood and wound juice.
I'm so happy I could just die.

Well I had the dressing redone today, it still hurts like hell, all this talk of it getting better each time they do it is rubbish!
Today's effort seemed to hurt more than the first two. I hate this!
On the plus side, I've found a couple of E39's that are available cheap locally, may well invest in one as a bit of a luxo-barge for a year or so.

Random question, yesterday the wound only hurt when I moved in particular ways, and of course, excruciatingly on re-packing.
Today the wound is becoming uncomfortable at all times, even on a combination of Tramadol and Diclafenic which makes me worry about what it would feel like if I was going "drug free".
Did anyone else's become more painful in the first few days before dulling down? I'm concerned in case it's getting infected although I suppose I'll know for sure tomorrow when it's packed again!

I just had it done today and I hope this is the sign of things to come, it was a fair bit less painful than it was before. The nurse advised that it didn't need to be soaked as it was already soaking with wound juice anyway.
Fingers crossed I'm on the road to recovery! Thanks to everyone who's posted so far
Now of course the next question, as part of my rehab I'm going to treat myself to a Shed (I was thinking of getting one before this happened), but which one will be most pleasant to ride about in?
Oh, and I have a picture of the offending wound now, but still not sure I want to share
