Hi folks

Has anyone had issues with the lambda sensor? I seemed to be having an engine fault light that keeps coming up (this is the 3rd time now in less than 2 months). Both times it has been one of the lambda sensors. I've already had one replaced and this time another ones seems to have failed in less than a week.

Is it just me or is this a common issue?

Thanks

Just my luck...

Well, it will be into the garage again. If it keeps happening, then another Evora will be up for sale and I'll be getting something else. I can't afford to run a car that isn't going to work.

This is beginning to get on my ... furious

Well, took it to Castle yesterday and the fault is on the same sensor. They eventually rang Lotus to try and see what was going on and Lotus don't know at the moment either, so while the car is fine to drive, it seems I have a ongoing investigation issue. Maybe an issue with the cats... And not the purring kind...

If no joy there, then I'm going to push for another car from Lotus.

I also think this is either an exhaust flow or engine management system, but the ECU has been reflashed with the latest settings a few months ago.

I suspect it will require a Lotus field engineer to come and look at it as the techs at the garage seem to be lost a bit - imho.

Its the MIL light which comes on permenantly. The ECU is reading a lambra sensor fault - which it always does - but it is not an issue with that sensor as it has been replaced a week or so ago and was tested again as fine.

With Lotus now for more investigation and will give them a chase on Monday.

Hi Alex, any joy with the MIL light? Mines just come on, engine sounds fine. How do you find out the fault code?

Cheers P
Apparently, the lambda sensors in the 2011 models have a design flaw. Still happens occasionally on mine, just ignore it now although I am looking into getting them replaced with the later 2012 version.

There is also a new ECU update which is supposed to handle the issue as well (amongst some other problems with TPMS systems).

I've had my Evora reflashed today, so I'll keep an eye on it and see if it really does resolve the issue.

In weather like this I'm just staying at home.

The Evora, the Sag and other toys are all under covers or locked up.

Did use the Evora in snow last week and she was fine. But now the snow has built up
on the lanes and frozen and then built up, I'm not going anywhere...

My lights come back on again. Just ignoring it for the moment but will get it looked at when the snow clears, I'll ask about the ecu update too. On the upside the evora's handling the snow a lot better than the sagaris did!
Btw - you still got the Sag? If so, you going to Chatsworth this year? Be good to say hi and compare experiences biggrin

No, I sold it about 18mths ago. Was going to replace it with another but prices skyrocketed after that. Still consider it though...
Yes, they have turned into a rather nice little investment biggrin

Made a profit of about £25k on mine now, but then I've spent a fair bit on it as well...
