OK - I am now an Evora owner. I have been a VX220 owner, an Elise owner, a TVR Chimera owner and a BMW z4 coupe owner. I came into some dough and test drove a load of different cars - 996 turbo (boring), 997 C2S (horrid ride), Jag XKR speed pack (too much like an old man car - but WHAT a noise). Then I drove an Evora. It was the only car that I got out of and wanted to get in again. The rest became a disappointment immediately.

My choice - an MY12 Evora S IPS (I know but I end up on the M25 a lot so it makes sense) in Autumn Bronze with black leather and red piping from Lotus Silverstone. It was an ex Lotus manager's car with just them as the only previous owner and services every six months (suspect if I had access to a Lotus garage at no charge I'd get my care sorted that often too). And because it was their car it is utterly FULLY loaded. Every single option ticked. The colour is not to everyone's taste though I quite like it myself, so I managed to crunch the price quite a bit, got six month's manufacturer warranty and and got them to throw in a £1200 service and wheel refurb too. Just turned from a rather poor deal to a rather good one overnight so I took it.

For me - this is the purest balance of comfort and driving pleasure I have ever had. HOW DO THEY MAKE THE RIDE SO SMOOTH????? I have two kids 2 and 4 yrs old who are both quite small so expecting to be able to take them out in it once in a while though we have a Chelsea tractor too so its not going to be a regular family car. It just seemed to tick all the boxes for me.

I spent most of the weekend weighing the whole thing up based on what the depreciation might look like if I got bored of it after a year and wanted to sell it. I reckon that given this car was £75k when it left the factory and I got it for 50% of that its probably done its balls already - so really if I do end up losing anything on it, it should only be a few grand. That's a small price to pay for the pleasure of owning this car.

So here we go. A new car. A brilliant car. And a whole host of experiences to come. Now just got to wait to pick the thing up....

I love a beautiful car but and I've been driving a wolf in sheep's clothing for a year so its time to step it up a level. I have to say I was skeptical about IPS - then I drove it, and it was just so brilliant. I am so fed up of 1st to 2nd changes on the motorway on long painful journeys. This appears to be the best of both worlds - relaxing when you need it, rewarding when you want it. Surely everyone wants a wife that's a posh lady when you need her to be and a total animal in the bedroom? Same thing here. Two cars in one as far as I can see.

Yes she did mention it! Great to see the shots though.

Have a question - have been offered to add sport racer sills and splitter plus black wheels when I pick it up. Leave as stock or go for the sports racer look?

Yes they are doing the same for me Neal. I also decided not to do the roof. Felt a bit much. And as you say - as its a vinyl wrap it can be removed for £50 by them at a later date. Might as well give it a go and then assess the reality given its part of the deal .

Neal, is it a gloss back or satin black finish on the vinyl? Trying to match the wheels.

I can't comment on exactly what I paid - that would be unfair to Silverstone. But to date - they have been magnificent. Very helpful, very keen. Very willing to be realistic and very honest. When I turned up at 0930 on a Saturday morning Amiee - the sales lead - was polishing all the cars and inspecting them. Truly dedicated. One of the best dealers I have ever come across. I obviously haven't picked up the car yet so will report back on that. To date - however, brilliant.
