Nope - not a thread about trying to get out of it. Just want to know how to pay and if I can get the 50% reduction for paying within 20 days (when does the 20 days start? - with this notification or from the date of the fine).

My mother-in-law has received a letter to identify driver (which was me!) for her car, registered in Spain. To make things complicated, my wife and I have a flat in Spain, but neither are registered - we live mainly in Germany. So, if she identifies me with the German address, and I get the fine, am I eligible for the 50% reduction, or should I put our Spanish flat address? I assume points are not put on my license.

Again, I say I have no problem paying the fine, but want to be able to get the reduction for paying early like the good citizens of Spain.

Oh! Bad luck! Can your MIL not pop into trafico and pay it?
Sorry not to have replied earlier - just back.

Basically that's what we did - went into trafico and they photocopied my licence and I coughed up the 50% (150 euros) there and then. Expensive mistake, but much better than the 300 it could have been - and no points.

To el romeral: according to the EU commission's website, "if you move to another country, you can drive there with your current licence as long as it remains valid" Seems that you were wrong to get done for that.

Ah - just saw that your licence is non-EU.
