Expiry of proof of no claims in Spain?

I will be moving near Barcelona in the next month or two. I will have a full proof of no claims from Ireland but don't plan on buying a car straight away, maybe a year down the road. Question is will my proof of no claims expire within a certain period and then I start off at 0?

Here in Ireland they expire after 2 years if you don't take out a policy and then you get ridden hard when you go looking for a new policy.

Sorry should have been more clear, I'm from the Republic of Ireland so not UK, dunno if that will make any difference.
