269 goals in 257 games for Real
3 hat tricks in his last 4 games
Scored in Reals last 14 home matches.

And his figures at International and United are none too shabby.

Have we ever seen a better player?

I'm going to upset a few people now, but I think Messi is over rated.

He has been surrounded by good players for a lot of his career, that helps flatter. Much the same could be said for Ronaldo, but I think he is the real deal.
The best players will always be surrounded by other good players though. You simply won't get one playing for Barnsley.

Ronaldo also consistently delivered in the Premiere league, still holds the record for goals scored so it can't be levelled that he can only do it in la liga.

Villarreal
Espanyol
Valencia
Seville
Real sociadad.
Deportivo.

Plus the teams you mention.

I'd say any of those and probably more would comfortably hold there own in the Premiere.

The same English teams qualify for the Champions League almost every year and at least half the table are in a relegation scrap until the last couple of games.

I reckon half the teams in the Prem would struggle in La Liga.

Still that's another argument.

Messi has been on another planet since the age of 21/22, it's only in the last 3 or 4 years Ronaldo has been managing to get to that same level.

As for La Liga being an inferior league, that's just complete bks. Maybe 10 years ago yes, but the top 10 teams in la Liga would be more then a match for the top 10 teams in the prem.
Surely Ronaldo has been at the top of his tree for a lot longer than that. He was outstanding from 2005 to 2009 god United so that's 9 years, scoring lots and winning umpteen awards too and I agree about La Liga. More than a match.

Sorry, didn't make myself clear. I mean compared to Messi who's the youngest of the two, Ronaldo wasn't able to consistently match his form until the last 3/4 years. I agree Ronaldo was none the less incredible before and rightly won the balon D'or, But Messi was on another level and has been for a lot longer IMHO.

I love watching them both and will at every opportunity. I guess the question of who's better then who can't be answered fully until both hang up there boots. Hopefully not for a while!
For me it's just that Ronaldo has been on my radar longer as a united fan.

I also enjoy his flashier style though he's reduced that now and us more effective for it.

I'm planning a weekend in Madrid in November to take in a game and desperately hope he's playing as that will really be something.

There aren't any players I'd get excited about going to see like that in the prem.

Ronaldo is just unstoppable at the moment.
15 goals in 7 La Liga matches this season. That's more than every premier league TEAMS except Chelsea scored in seven games. Truly astonishing stuff and such a loss to our league, he certainly won't return :-(

But with the exception of about 2 other teams in the league, the rest of them are utter pants. At least in the premier league on any given day the mid-table and bottom teams can give the top tier teams a run for their money.
This is my previous post on that topic, and of course lets not forget Ronaldo tore every premier league defence apart too.

Liverpool have scored 13 goals in 10 league games. Ronaldo has scored 17 goals in 9 league games.

We have never seen scoring at this level.

Agreed but La Liga is like Scottish Football with sun.

He certainly wasn't that prolific in the EPL - I do understand he was not quite as accomplished back then.
He holds the record for most goals scored in a 38 game EPL season.

Along with Shearer and Suarez. So a few people hold the record.
Nobody has scored more in a 38 game season.

Two others have tied with 31.

Henry
Rooney
Owen
Van Nistleroy
Aguerro

None of those have scored that many.

My post was in regard to saying Ronaldo hadn't delivered in the Premiere League. He clearly did for a number of seasons.

Another Ballon D'or.

For me he is the best of the best.

The finest to ever have played the game.

To deliver at the highest level in two leagues for that length of time surpasses all others.

Some have commented that Ronaldo didn't excel at man utd.

That's simply not the case. He won three premier leagues, Runner up in two FA cups, won 2 league cups, He won the Champions league and was twice PFA players player of the year, he still holds the record for most goals scored in a premier league season (31 goals) and was transferred for a world record fee to Real. So he has performed at the highest level for an awful long time and with top clubs in top leagues.

Significantly too his fitness and conditioning means he rarely misses games in contrast to others who are called great players yet struggle to turn out on more than a few consecutive occasions.

He has nothing to prove.

Ronaldo just keeps on breaking records. Now the all time Real highest scorer (in half the games of the previous) and a hat trick in the champions league to put him on 80, another record.

I was watching some of the goals he and the United team scored in 2007/8 yesterday. A team with Ronaldo, Rooney, Tevez, vidic, Evra, Giggs, Ferdinand etc.

The level of skill, pace and work rate was phenomenal and Ronaldo on a level the Premiere league players now can only dream of.

I have to say that it demonstrated for me that the top players really are not that good now and the football we are being served up is exciting, competitive but supremely marketed and not very good.

They talk about the pace of players, are people seriously saying that Rooney is faster now than 8 years ago.

As for Ronaldo, every season there is talk of him going back to United, why on earth would he? He has nothing to prove at all.

I predict this and one more season at Real then the MLS.

We are fortunate to be able to see the best player that has ever lived in my opinion.

Ronaldo bagged four last night to make it a record 11 in the Champions League first round stages and extend his gap as the all time highest Champions league scorer.

21 in 20 games so far this season.

It really hurts me to see United play nowadays with the memories of him being there still so fresh.

Perhaps another season at Real and then off to the MLS for him?

I've no doubt that barring injury Ronaldo can continue at the highest level for another 3 or 4 seasons, not scoring 50 goals a year but still a very influential player.

It's only speculation but I just have this idea of him being the star player in Beckhams Miami MLS franchise when it launches, that would elevate his status still further and could work to push the MLS to a higher level.

Things change of course and I appreciate what he says now, I just feel that an offer like that at age 34 could be packaged in a very appealing way.

For now he remains at Real, talk of returning to the Prem happens regularly but it's daft really as he has been there, done it and has nothing to prove.

Time will tell.

Last night his team needed three goals.

He delivered!

30 goals in six consecutive seasons.

The all time CL leading goalscorer.

I say he is the greatest footballer of all time.

Goal machine. His stats are simply astonishing. Wasn't Rooney once a better player than Ronaldo early on in their careers?
When they were both at United in the early stages of their careers many said they would vie for the worlds best player title, as time went on Ronaldo improved more than Rooney.

Rooney has become a great player but Ronaldo is at another level.
