Calling all you knowledgeable Spuds.... shout

(that will narrow it down a bit hehe )

Just when I thought life as a Yeovil fan couldn't get any worse (we've gone from mid-table in the Championship to bottom of the Football League in 2 years, 2 months), we';ve now trusted a Spudly defender with the job of arresting our unstoppable slide into non-league oblivion.

Any of you know much about Christian Maghoma?

I met him last night... he is enormous. I'm 6'3" and he is way taller than I am and he's set to sign a youth loan deal with us. He's played in your BPL u21 squad at 16 so I guess he's decent but any other info? We've had a few loans from Spurs over the years with varying success; Caulker, Mason and Townsend were good, Parrett was awful, Hutchins disappeared after signing permanently and Obika wasn't bad.

Just curious - who looked the best of the lot? I would imagine Caulker, followed by Mason, and then Townsend?
Caulker was head and shoulders the best. Played 40+ games in his season with us (15-20 games of them as a 17-year-old) in League One and he was superb.

Mason was very raw but you could see he had quality.

Townsend was probably level with Mason during his time with us but again, quite raw.

If I had been a betting man, I'd have staked everything I owned on Caulker playing for England one day, he was THAT good.

It's the things Neville points out in that article that are the difference between us retaining talent and being used as a stepping stone.
Development, opportunity, individual coaching, nurturing, the players can see the wheels in motion and where it is heading, jumping ship for instant success and cash is always going to be an issue until we become the super-club we are heading towards being, but having the methods and facilities in place must make a guy really wonder if the grass is really greener over the fence, I can think of no other reason Llloris is still here.
I don't think that is always necessarily true, Justin. I've been privileged to know a few professional footballers and a surprising amount would put other considerations above money in their list of priorities.

Of course for a lot, cold hard cash will be the be all and end all but for many, settled kids, a nice house in a good area, being close to family etc will count for a lot more than yuou might think. And the manager will be a big factor too.

Scum supporting mate has been sending me messages this morning, laughing at how we're copying the Emirates and how the new WHL will be inferior to it.

I've replied with a long list of how our stadium is much, much better than the Emirates and asking him to explain how we're copying it.

No reply as yet!
Did you really do that? A 'My dad is bigger than your dad' response?
To be fair, it will probably be the one your lad uses at school. tongue out

Great game for us neutrals, felt like a cup tie in the last twenty minutes.

Not being that controversial but Tom Carroll isn't good enough for the BPL. I'd guess that MP might want to invest in the transfer window on another midfielder who's a bit stronger and a bit more street wise. His clearing header that led to Besic's volley almost cost you and he was out muscled off the ball many times.

Caroll had more touches and completed more passes than anyone didn't he? He's third choice in that position anyway and is content with a place on the bench.

Im far more concerned about buying another striker and CB, and not waste what has been an excellent first half of the season.

We were excellent yesterday, i really enjoy watching us play but thats why any title talk was just silly we play excellently and only draw as we have done a number of times this season whereas @rse, City and Utd all play st and get 3 points.

Top 4 is the target and ill be more than happy with that, time for the chairman to step up now and provide poch with some support finally, we draw so many games because we don't have any options from the bench, Kane cant play every game he was dying on his feet in the second half.
I agree that some reinforcements are needed for up top but it's very difficult to buy anyone of decent quality when you only play one up front and you know you are going to be on the bench.

In the days of 2 up front you could have 3 pretty good strikers as they knew that they'd get a chance at some point. Spurs aren't in the market for an Aguero, Lewandowski etc so any striker coming in is sitting on the bench behind Kane.

Not sure of who is around (apart from Berahino).
Charlie Austin?

Don't think QPR will go up this season and he's a proven scorer at every club. He'd do a great job for the teams down the bottom of the table (Sunderland, Villa, Chelsea etc) and I think he has the ability to do it much higher up the BPL.

You sad fk hehe

You might want to check the number of weeks I haven't predicted mate seeing as you're stalking my results!

Also, my kids are only 3 yrs and 6 weeks (hence my lack of predictions) so sadly not cognitive enough to predict for me.

Muppet.
hehethumbup

I don't stalk your results as such so I don't know how often you couldn't be bothered didn't have time to predict. Fair enough on the other point but mine are 15 and Yeovil fans so only slightly more cognitive....

Not the best of performances from the Spurs but through to the next round without the need for a tricky midweek replay.

Really impressed with Nkoudou today. Exciting player, would like to see him continue to develop as he looks a read edge-of-the-seats player.
