With most of the player prices announced over the last couple of days, the new game for the 23/24 season is rumoured to launch at 4pm today. The website has just changed over to the "the game is updating and will be available soon" holding page so it must be imminent.

Can't wait to get started on a draft. Have people been following the price moves and position changes? Are we going to see even more template sides than last season, with very high ownership for the likes of Haaland, TAA, Fernandes and Mitoma ? What's your thoughts?

Surprised it wasn't higher tbh. I can still see him being >90% owned this season.

Edit: as of yesterday with just over half a million teams registered, he was 81.5% owned

Everyone seems to be going 3-5-2 with Haaland and Jesus up front and then perming a midfield 5 from Bruno / Rashford / Mitoma / Saka / Mbuemo / Salah / Odegaard, with TAA and Esupinan as two of the defenders. Going to be a very template season by the looks of it.

With the amount of videos being put out daily by the FPL content creatures it's a wonder I can make any decisions at all.

Still asking the ... is Haaland worth that much question too? scratchchin
For me it's a question of "can you afford not to have him" ?

In his first season in the Prem, he has defied both his reputation for missing large numbers of games through injury, and his managers reputation for squad rotation, and won the golden boot by 6 goals over Harry Kane.

He is currently 85.8% owned. Which will likely translate to a 150+% effective ownership in GW 1-7 due to Man City's fixtures.

Unless he is injured at the start of the season, the Haaland train is one you can't afford to miss.

Tell me about it! There are a few potentially decent bench options in the 4M and 4.5M price points. My current draft is 4 at the back with Baldock (4m) as the benchie. I have another draft that is three at the back with Baldock and Bell (also 4m) as the Benchies. Bell is 17% owned so he seems quite a popular choice as a filler, my fear is that if Luton get off to a poor start people will dump him and I could be left holding a 3.9 or 3.8m player giving me a problem to move to someone else if I don't have any money ITB.
Current draft is 4-4-2 with 0.5 ITB.

Finalised my team.
Definitely finalised my team too. Just going round in circles otherwise, swapping and changing. So I'm stopping now, and it is what it is for GW1.

Maybe.

Edit: now with the breaking Kane news I have to rip it all up and start over!

GRRRrrrr this game.

Get rid of Rice - not useful in FPL.
Yes, I'm inclined to agree .. who at 5.5m though. Douglas Luiz maybe?
Luiz seems to fly under everyone's radar. Not sure if they know something I don't, but I really think he's a decent asset for the price.

Right. Locked in my team of indecision. 4-5-1 with 4.5m ITB to see me through the first couple of game weeks. Should give me some flexibility to see how things are shaping up.

Best of luck everybody.

Good old Pep.
My gamble not to captain Haaland is going well so far.

With Kane going imminently, Haaland's managerial % has gone up and is now nearly 90%. That's why you have to have him IMO.
Completely agree. Even before Kane left, Haaland's ownership was 85.6%. You simply can't afford not to have him in your team. It has become a game of 14 players and an 86m budget.

I took a gamble and captained Saka instead of Haaland so I need a hat trick from him.
I took the same gamble. Seemed like a reasonable punt - Haaland had not scored in 5 games and was playing away at a newly promoted side who play good football and whose manager would be looking to put one over on his old boss, whereas Saka was in form and scoring (apart from one penalty miss pre season) and at home against a side with a terrible away record.

So yeah I've lost out the same way too. biglaugh

So with one game to go, a mixed week for me however going to be smiling, I think.

On the downside, six players received cautions (plus Bruno still to come) which is going to sting. However, good week to captain Haaland plus decent returns from Estupinan, Maddison, Saka and Wissa means I have 78 points before Man U v Wolves. Would have taken that at the start for sure.
That's a great haul. I'm on 64 with Rashford and Fernandes to play tonight.

The proliferation of cards is going to be annoying until that settles down.

Pleased to finish the week on 70 points having not captained Haaland. Got away with one there!

Nice one! thumbup
Yeah big relief. I have 4.5M in the bank, and a 4-5-1 formation so not sure whether to stick or twist for GW2 as 3-5-2 seems to be the preferred formation. Either way, won't gambling on Haaland's captaincy again!

Starting to get worried about Gabriel's minutes now. Already made my transfer for this week, but I think Gabriel might have to be moved on for GW3.

Estupinan, Mitoma and Wissa are undroppable at the moment for me. Outscoring the bigger names like Trent and Bruno each week now.

Didn't make any changes after Gameweek 1 and happy with that.
Will be dropping Bruno after today.
yes

Me too, there are many better options than "whiny rat boy" to have in your team.
I think I'll give Rashford and Bruno one more week but they are definitely on borrowed time.

It's going to be a terrible week. 25 so far, with Saka and Eze to play. Having captained Saka last week instead of Haaland I switched back to Haaland this week so expect Saka to haul on Monday night.
