Luca Toni would be a good signing for your boys. Not an iron, but they are local to me wink
We need someone like that up front bounce
And when we get Gudjohnssen too we'll be laughing! It'll be nice to have someone up front that can be greedy and take shots and then Cole can mop up all the rebounds biggrin

PS When the fking hell is Dean Ashton gonna actually play?
Have heard that he isn't even training yet but that could of course be utter nonsense (although it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest)
At the moment I'd be surprised if he turns out for us again. Hopefully I'll be proved wrong though.
I'm not too keen on Ashton, wouldn't mind seeing him leave if we get Gudjohnsen in to replace him. Cracker from Noble on Saturday, more of that this season please biggrin

Also a bit worrying that Upson admitted he may have to be sold!

Collins linked to Stoke again today in a £5m deal. More interestingly, Davenport is rumoured to be on the verge of a £1.5m move to Notts Forest. I would prefer this option. It's less money but I really rate Collins, and also if we're down to only four central defenders that reduces the chance of letting Upson go.

Unless this is all a ploy an he's about to go to City... frown
Also reported that we're now in for £7M for Chamakh so guess that we'll need the money for Ginge asap.

Outside the championship Davenport never really cut it, looked good at that level but not a premiership player for me.
I'd much rather land Gudjohnsen than Chamakh, need some proven Premiership class up front IMHO.

Correct on Davenport, he's never made the step up.

Argh, we have sold Ginge for £3.5m to Stoke! I cannot believe this, we should have gotten at least £5m. I knew Zola saying we weren't going to sell anyone wasn't true. Story here

Does anyone know anything about our new striker Alessandro Diamanti?
left footed attacking mid more than a out and out striker, got his career back on track (much like cole), seems to take alot of free kicks, fre guys over on KUMB that are italian seem to rate him highly so if he settles could be a god buy

can see him sitting behind cole with jiminez if everyone stays fit
Looks that way - there's a decent montage of him on You Tube, scores some decent free kicks. Pity we didn't get hold of a striker in the window though, god knows what state we'll be in if Coley gets injured.
I really hoped we were going to get Gudjohnsen. Cole is good but we need a natural finisher. Zola has worked wonders with him but he needs to go on a run soon otherwise he will have another poor season goal scoring wise.

Is anyone else starting to get worried? We scraped past Milwall, got outplayed by Wigan and now we haven't been able to beat Bolton! I haven't seen any highlights but 3-1 doesn't look good from any angle.

If the results keep going this way I can see Green and Upson looking to move in January to boost their England chances. Cole is a good player but we need a proven Premiership striker alongside him. I was praying we would get Gudjohnsen but instead we have ended up with Dimanti who, like Di Michele, doesn't seem to be adapting well to the Premier League.

Sort it out please Zola.

Does anyone have any more updates on this supposed take over? I am starting to get worried that January is fast approaching and Green, Upson, Cole and Behrami, for all their good intentions, must surely have one eye on the World Cup? Could be Upson's last chance at a World Cup and Cole too because if he has a dip in form it wouldn't be inconceivable that he could end up slipping down into a Championship team in a couple of years.

Being stuck in the relegation zone all season isn't going to help their chances too much. But I do hope they prove me wrong smile

Looks like Cole back in the squad for tomorrows game, no Ilunga or Diamanti though.

Need a result....
Indeed, this is a pivotal match. If we don't win then Hull will be at least 2 points clear from us.

Did anyone read the Standard yesterday? I had a long District line train from Richmond to Monument to ponder what Zola said about the talk of transfers affecting the squad. So I guess it's nailed on that at least Cole and Upson will be waving bye-bye, with Behrami and Green probably hanging on until the end of the season but then having good world cups which can pay off some more Icelandic debt.

It really does piss me off that unsuitable people are allowed to get involved in the running of football clubs and then just pissing 100 years of heritage up the wall in the vain attempt to make a few quid. I bet Steve Clarke must be scratching his head and wondering why he bothered to move across London now! The journey from Farnborough to Essex everyday can't be too fun either compared with his old trip to Cobham!!

News about Cole looking worse & worse - serious knee ligament damage, maybe out for the season according to the sun - believe it when there's a statement, fingers crossed.

Parker had a blinder on saturday, although got caught out couple of times mid spin.
Until it is reported in a newspaper as opposed to a comic, I won't be losing too much sleep. That Franco looks a seriously good player, where did he come from? He's 30-odd, isn't he?

Why is the press still so anti-West Ham? Fair enough we got humped by Manchester Utd as my ManUre season ticket holding pal was only too happy to inform me through several gloating texts (and yes, he lives in London, Hayes to be precise) but "thrashed", "spanked" and "anihilated" were all used by the press.

Granted I might just be in a bit of a bad mood about the result, but I don't think 4-0 is a thrashing. Still, not having a shot on target is a shambles.

Yep, gonna be a long Xmas for the Irons. Hard to see any positives ahead of the next few games, Chelski at the weekend's going to be a real tough one.

Watched first half of the brum game on saturday & though we looked ok, especially towards the end of the half, but typically couldn't get a decent shot off, as usual too much fking around rather than taking a shot.

Christ knows whether Zola will be able to strenghen come the New Year, or more worryingly whether we can hold onto Green, Cole etc given the World Cup.
Well, Cole said in the Standard today that he isn't going anywhere and I'd like to think he means it seeing as how good the club has been to him.

I think Zola may only still be in a job because they can't afford to fire him. Shame really as, with a bit of money, I really think he could turn us around and into a solid Villa/Everton style team.
