Been offered a Impreza 2000 STI WRX Turbo Wagon '98 with 100k on the clock in exchange for my current car.

The guy says he gets about 35-40mpg from it? Is that feasible, as every where I look people are in the 20 ranges.

I'll be mostly motorway driving, so what could I really expect from 70mph? Also if I hyper mile behind a lorry/coach or go 50 mph, I don't mind driving like a fanny as I enjoy driving.

Also what sort of value do you reckon it's at? My car is worth about £1300 and he wants to do a straight swap, his has 12 months MOT on it as well.

I know not the right car to save on cash but the AWD will help in the winter months as getting out of my road is like dancing on ice.
Also the burst of power to get out of tight situations will make me feel safer then my Fiesta 1.4tdci, which if I needed to accelerate quick I might as well step out of the car and walk.

Cheers thumbup

Cheers for the response, just put the reg in on an insurance site and brings it up as a Subaru Impreza Turbo 2000 4WD, so not a STI WRX.

I've actually just found the car on eBay that he offered me

25mpg? Think I'll leave it for now, disappointing really! I could accept a 20mpg drop from changing car but a 35mpg drop I can't really afford at the moment.
Especially since I'll be doing about 800-1000 miles a week for the next 4 months.
