Just announced.

Rocky and circling right where the Earth does in the habitable zone of a Sol sized star. And it's been in it's habitable zone for 6 billion years - much longer than the earth. It's named Kepler 452b.

Nasa "The closest twin/Earth 2.0 so far".

The most likely to support life so far.

The planet sits a little further back in its Goldilocks zone than Earth does so the increased brightest is likely offset by this.

They said it's roughly in the same place that the Earth is but set back a little - so more entrenched centrally in its habitable zone.

Yep, it's stunning and reinforces something that I heard in that broadcast yesterday, that they now think Earth-type rocky planets in and around the habitable zones of planets are THE NORM and will far outnumber other types of planets (ie Gas)

I agree - I would like to hear more on how they came to that conclusion myself. However, it's great news.
