Evil smelling engine cleaner

So what’s happened to the likes of Jizer and Gunk? They now appear to near to be neat diesel, or at least smell like it and I don’t remember them ever smelling this bad in the past. I made the mistake of washing some parts near the back of the house and the run off went down the back wall so the whole house now smells of diesel- this makes me very unpopular with the wife. Any recommendations for a cleaner that can be used outside an HGV yard?
