Hi Guys,

Probably a real nooby question and probably a simple answer, but here we go. Recently, my passenger door has failed to lock. One day someone got out of the car and the car alarm started going off (while the door was still open), I went to shut it, lock it and I noticed the mechanism failed to lock the door.

So, first things first, lets try and change the mechanism. Nope, no fix, still same issue. Alright, so let's change the whole wiring loom... that didn't work either.

I've also noticed that the door being open doesn't trigger the lights to turn on inside or my HUD to register the door is open, what could this be guys? Any kind of help is greatly appreciated. I'm currently awaiting a response from a local auto electrician, but would be nice to have a pointer before/if he comes smile

I assume when you say you tried to lock it, you mean from the door lock pin, or do you mean from the central locking, or the alarm plipper?

My first port of call would be the solenoid in the door that locks/unlocks the door, these quite often also fulfil the function of door open switch.

First see if it is getting a signal to lock/unlock, check fuses etc.
I first tried to lock it using my remote FOB and the lock on the driver door. No generic clunking noises to indicate anything is working, I have been using the emergency lock pin in the door shutters.
