Cleaning/Oiling an air filter
Discussion
Hi, I've got a Ramair foam air filter that needs cleaning/re oiling. I bought a K&N filter cleaning kit as I read somewhere they are much the same. Now further googling says not to use this as it won't be suitable for the foam filter (oil too thin or something). Am I overthinking this or is it important to get the correct oil?
Thanks for the replies but reinstalling the original air intake is not an option for me at the moment.
Basically maf sensor has failed and i want to clean the foam filter before installing a new maf and have a long journey to make tomorrow. I dont have time to buy the ramair cleaning kit (only available online) so only option is to use the K&N one i have (for paper filters) or buy something else that is available at euro car parts, halfords etc.

There was a thread on here last week where MAF sensor failure was blamed on the use of an oiled air filter.
I'm not technically savvy enough to be able to say whether or not that's correct, but given that your MAF sensor has failed I thought it might be worth mentioning.
Thanks mate, apparently they can't be under/over oiled. But then you hear others say they just whack some engine oil on etc. and it's fine so god knows.
