Current van is a LWB Transit, 155ps, next van will be an auto which limits my choices. Considering an Iveco 3 litre 205bhp with the ZF 8 speed automatic gearbox. I can get pretty much what I need on the options but was looking for input from anyone with experience of them, so whadya know?

Thanks for the replies, yes I want an auto, we have a dealer very local although I obviously haven't had any prior dealings with them.I will be enquiring about the Sprinters. I want to stay under 3500kg as I don't want to get into operators licence & all the other stuff that goes with it. I'm waiting for them to get back to me about a demo van.

I think people are getting confused about the Daily gearboxes.

The previous auto box was the Agile and this really wasn't a great gearbox. It was slow to change, sometimes it didn't select the correct gear and worse still, it occasionally got stuck.

However, the new 8 speed Hi Matic gearbox is brilliant. I would go so far to say that I don't believe anything betters it in the 3.5t range. Anyone' who puts it down, hasn't driven it.

It's the same ZF gearbox that has been used in Range Rovers, BMW's, Maseratis...this list goes on.

After you get to try the demonstrator, ift won't be down to the gearbox if you decide not to purchase one.
This is what I've been told, I've driven a late model Discovery & was quite impressed with the gearbox, just waiting for the demo.
