Camping in Sherwood Forest/New Forest.
Discussion
Hi. Can anyone on here recommend an excellent great value campsite in the above two places?
I'm coming back to the UK for the annual Summer holiday.
One week staying up in Newcastle ( seeing the family)+ one week camping.
Taking a 3 man tent + extra small single tent. ( 1 adult+ 2 teenagers). Looking to camp end July.
3 nights near Nottingham and 3/4 nights down south.
This is the first time camping with my kids ( 13/18), as we normally stay in hotels/b'n b's in the UK.

It depends what you're after from a site.
Some offer lots of entertainment for kids, such as play areas and pools. Others just bask in the natural beauty of the New Forest and you walk / cycle around the place.
I'm no fan of the former, so can't offer any personal recommendations, but gather that Sandy Balls may be a possible option for you.
With regards the latter, we love the Black Knowl Caravan Club site near Brockenhurst.

I'm looking for a quiet, friendly, well run camp site as a base to explore the surrounding area. I used to live near Beaulieu so know the area well, but the only time i camped in the forest was a scout ( at Denny Wood with military style tents and cold buckets of water as a shower!).
The kids want to go to Portsmouth, Southampton, Winchester etc.
How much is it to hire mountain bikes in The New Forest?

Isn't there a campsite in Marchwood (where i grew up incidentally, small world!) - Tanglewood or something like that.
As for Sherwood Forest, all i can think of is the Sherwood Forest Holiday Park. But if i were driving up this way, i'd go with the Peak District instead - far nicer.

Another 'local' from around where i used to live!!! This is really weird. I've only recently joined PH and up pops two members from the same area! How's that for a coincidence?
