Hookup cable. Does it have to be orange?

Probably a daft question but I have a really long cable here that is white and quick thick as well. Chan this be used or are they special and have to be orange?

If they do, I have an orange one here but it is about as thick as the ones you get on a mower (3 core). Is that OK?

Thanks all. I just wondered if orange was a legal requirement but obviously not.

I may go for the thinner one of the two as it is mainly for a light and TV.
