My cooker didn't work, I thought due to a lack of gas.

I tried a new bottle of gas tonight but still no gas coming out of the cooker gas rings, I made up a pipe for the external bbq point and there was no gas there either.

The problem must be the bulkhead regulator, it seems to be a common problem with the Truma regulator according to a quick Google search.

The caravan came with a 12 month warranty when we bought it in April, hopefully it will be covered and I will be able to get it sorted before we go away next Saturday.

Well bad news and good news.

The bad news is that the warranty doesn't cover the regulator (which was no great surprise), the good news is the caravan dealer a couple of miles from my work has regulators in stock, and recommends a Cavagna unit rather than a Truma one, and it is half the price.

So hopefully I will have it fixed tonight.

The van is second hand, but I have quickly learnt that everytime there is an issue the warranty doesn't cover it.

I have had three problems, two I have had to sort myself, one the supplying dealer sorted, but they just pass me onto the warranty company now as I have had the van since April, they don't want to know.

The supplying dealer is 30 miles away so at least a 60 mile round trip, 120 if the van stays with them, they only accept vans in on a Monday as they don't do hand overs on a Monday. So that means an afternoon off work and loss of pay.

It works out more cost effective to sort the problems myself.

When I bought the van the 12 moth warranty was re-assuring, if I have a major problem it may be covered. Hopefully I won't have one.
