Does anyone hear use trickle chargers to keep vehicle battery topped up? Dad has just been to start the 95 Hymer b544 but nothing. A click was only heard although wipers were working. It has an engine immobiliser. It was started and driven last week no problem, but dead today.

. I think the immobiliser is running the battery down and we are not running if enough to compensate for that drain down. Perhaps the battery needs replacing? Although looking at it, it looks fairly new.

We had a letter from the previous owners who specifically stated that it needed to be started reguarly or plugged in to stop the battery going flat but I find it odd that a immobiliser can drain a fairly heavy duty Fiat Ducato battery, as well as it being driven once a week for half an hour or so to keep it topped up.

I am tempted to buy one of these for such occurences during the winter, any thoughts?

Also, a solar powered trickle charger to keep the battery topped up, are they much use?
