Just finished this and I really enjoyed it, so thought I'd share with PH as a great summer read...oh and it is written by a fellow PHer aswell (not me btw!).

The novel is set around the time of the South African World Cup and the initial phone hacking scandal and concerns a corrupt politician at Manchester City Council and his attempts to pull off a major fraud by tapping into global warming fears. It's not my normal type of read, but after a slightly slow start I was absolutely gripped and what I really enjoyed was every twist and turn of the plot took me in a direction I was not expecting. The lead protagonist is a really quite believable Machiavellian character and I sincerely hope he returns in an even more devious form, but all of the characters are very believable rather than the clear cut 'goodies and baddies' you sometimes get from many authors. I won't spoil the plot, but it is a classic wee-boiler that will hook you in and spew you out a few days later; his descriptions of the subterfuge and back-stabbing at Manchester Council are excellent, realistic and utterly gripping.

I found this on the usual Brazilian river website and hope you enjoy it as much as I (honestly) did smile

That's good to hear he's coming back and I love the sound of him trying to profit from Devolution. Sneaky git!

Best of luck smile
