O.K. folks you are not going to believe this but the Mex is dead.

Yesterday 43 hours after collecting it from London I was taking it for it's MOT in Ivybridge, the weather was miserable and I was travelling up a single track road when an elderly bloke came down the hill and around the corner in his Daewoo Lanos, he slammed on the anchors and skidded straight into the front of the car. The inertia belt cut in later than it should enabling me to smash my head on the steering wheel before bruising four of my ribs.

I spent a year trying to find one and to say I'm gutted is beyond belief.

To add insult to injury, no road markings so it's going to go 50/50 on insurance.

Fotango server is down but I will post pictures tomorrow.

It's taking over 24hrs for me to post this.

Thanks everyone, life does have a habit of kicking you in the nuts sometimes.

I really don't want to lose this car, I'm going to try and do my best to get it back from the brink almost to the extent that i am going to challenge myself to have it up again and attending meets next year.

It doesn't help when you are told today that inner wings are ade to order and cost nearly 400 bucks.

If I can save it I'm going to try.

thanks again.

Morning folks, yes the police did attend but there is absolutely nothing you can do to win this case without an independent witness, there were no skidmarks as the road was wet/greasy and it was in the country.

Thanks for the info on the wing, if anyone else spots any parts on their travels please email me.

It wouls be a great help.

Thanks for the support everyone, the numbers and links are coming in really handy!

Been back to the doctors today, it looks like the ribs are O.K. although I have to do a course of physio for my neck.

Well it's pretty much decided 'Project Mexican Phoenix' will be taking up a chunk of my time this year folks.

It's too good to waste!

Well, there absolutely no chance of any win on this as I have received two letters this morning, one from a solicitor on the personal injury gravy train and another from the insurer claiming it was my fault, only to be expected I suppose as my insurer have sent the same out.

Personal Injury, makes you sick.

Thanks Gallen but if I'm going to re-shell it has to be a Type 49.

Thanks again.

Job's on!

The deal on the table is £2,700 and keep the car which I am going for!

So dig deep, check all your corners of the garage because 'Mex Aid' or the Mexico Accident Disaster Appeal (MADA) is now official.

Remember, this didn't have to happen!

Just the two new wings and an inner wing in pattern parts is a grand!

YES, A GRAND!

Oh.. and did I mention there is a 3 month waiting list too!

It will be sorted, this car has more soul than my 500 Chimaera will ever have.

A proper car.
