So, tuned into the F1 channel this evening only to find an on screen message advising me that I needed to upgrade my subscription.

Got straight onto sky and spent a frustrating half an hour being passed around various people who had no idea about anything whatsoever really. Eventually I was told that I now needed the full sky sports package to get the F1 channel. I may have sworn at the call centre guy at this stage, but given their service, this is probably written on their script as a natural British response.

Now, I think I remember reading that this is the case for new subscribers, but I'm an existing customer.

What I think may have happened is that the wife removed the movies package recently, which came into effect last night. I think sky may have used this as an opportunity to set up a new subscription package and thereby relieve me of my favourite channel. I don't know, perhaps I'm mistaken. Nevertheless, a complaint has been emailed to sky.

In the meantime, can anyone shed any light on this?

It's definitely not a blanket thing as I'm watching the 2010 Italian GP as I type this.

Did your wife cancel the HD pack too? Good luck with the complaint procedure, it's like banging your head against a brick wall.
And you don't have the sky sports package I take it?

Right then, Sky are going to listen to the call my wife made a few weeks ago to see whether they advised her that the subscription change would mean we lost F1.

However, they've stated that even if they didn't, the most they can do is give us a free month / £30 (i.e still no F1).

Personally I think that they should place us back in the position we would have been in had they done their jobs properly (I'd quite happily put movies back on to achieve this).

It seems the issue may be that their systems won't allow them to sort this, however I don't see why we should be punished for this.

Any thoughts misschief?
