Looking to take wife and son(6) to a F1 race in Europe, but not Hungary or Silverstone next year.

Spain is top of the wish list because its in May.
need a hotel (4 star min) close to the circuit
as would like to get a taxi to the track, and not to far from the airport.

It's a shame Valencia is not on the calender as that was pretty much a package 'couples' F1 weekend. 4 & 5 star hotels within walking distance of the track, beach and nightlife and an airport not too far away.

Last time I checked Monza is reasonable too.
Thats about what iam looking for frown

Hungary I'd have thought. Stay in Budapest and travel to the circuit. Good transport links iirc.
Did that one last year wink was good, traveling by train was long and a very long walk at the other end,
so ended up getting taxi each day.
Going to Silverstone for 5 days this year smile

Not been but planning too, surely Barcelona seems a good one for next year. Lovely city cheap flights and seems to be good quick public transport from Barcelona to the circuit.
Exactly this. Went this year, the buses were uber efficient, Barcelona is awesome, what's not to like?
Sounds like a winner cool

Another vote for Barcelona.

Plenty of accommodation available in the city, then just jump on the train to Montmelo station from Barcelona (if you get one of the Bonotren tickets, which enable you 10 journeys on the one ticket, it works out cheaper and a heck of a lot more convenient).

The trains back from the circuit can be busy, however - but the ride is only 20 mins and they put on extra services on the Sunday to cope.

I did it last year when I was studying in Spain - three day ticket to the free-standing areas for 99 euros, not much more than a weekend at the BTCC...

Having watched Harris's /Drive video on Monaco I have the burning desire to head to Spa again. Went last year for the first time, first time that I had driven abroad too and it was an awesome roadtrip in the XJR. None of my mates are up for it this year, currently toying with either going on my own or heading to Monza on my own. £88 general admission for Monza, just need to figure out the fuel costs!
Dont want to work out my fuel cost for a trip like that yikes

Just imagine tearing down through Europe in your car, I've seen how silly a tuned VXR8 can be. The speed, the sound, the smell of unburnt fuel. Well worth the fuel bill. DO IT!
Driven like that (Monaro 6.0L s/c with 700bhp) I would be lucky to see 10MPG rofl
But your right, Would be great fun biggrindriving

If a supercharged 4.0 V8 from 1998 with 120k on the clock and an autobox can manage 22mpg when being driven spiritedly from Leeds to Spa and back then your VXR8 shouldn't be far off!
Did Le Mans 2 years ago and got 17mph but it was raining most of the time, But bloody great trip smile
