I wondered if there were those out there who, like me, thoroughly enjoyed the Hungarian GP, who wanted to talk about the drivers without dissecting their characters from afar, who would prefer to give praise where praise was due, or even might be due, rather than criticise, especially when not due.

I don't expect a GP to be thrills all the way through. However, I got one yesterday. I don't expect drivers to perform to their limits time and again on overtakes without a few mistakes, but that's what we had yesterday. Unreasonably, I want them to drive their cars in the rain, when they can't see bugger all, and do so at speed, especially into the first few corners with cars all around them.

I do expect some entertainment, and by heavens, didn't we get just that.

I'm a McLaren supporter and if, after their disaster of a race I can still come away saying that was possibly the best race of an exciting season then I think others can forgive Hamilton, Alonso and Vettel for their assumed faux pas of the past.

Regardless of whom you wanted to win, that was a thriller. Alonso, Hamilton, Rosberg, Riccardo, Vettel and most other provided a thrilling afternoon's entertainment. I assume that none of these drivers are perfect people, I assume also that they make the occasional mistake, and I expect that most are so far up their own arses that they have to wear a visor over their mouths on a windy day in case they are interviewed, but boy, can they drive and can they excite.

To go off my own topic a little: I bet those who reckoned that the new forumla would lead to unexciting racing are feeling a bit silly at the moment. I know I am.

As a Rosberg fan I was a little disappointed
You want to try supporting McLaren. Then you will know disappointment.

Great race from Jean-Eric Vergne, lucked out at the end to finish 9th but great middle stint and to hold off (the frankly disappointing) Rosberg was rather amusing.
I thought Rosberg had a problem and that was why he couldn't pass him. But his times later on showed this not to be so. I thought LH was going to struggle likewise.

Lots and lots of air time for Verne and the team so he more than did his bit I think.
