With so much happening in f1 at the moment, and so many threads already running to cover those specific subjects, I think it would be nice to keep the unofficial/official Grand Prix thread about the race.

So in PH tradition here are my predictions:

Quali:

1) Ham
2) Ros
3) Ric

Race:

1) Ric
2) Ham
3) But

ETA: just seen my typo in the title. Sorry about that, no spelling police please.

I'm not sure, how many more years is the GP at Austin.

The New York GP seems to have fallen apart, and Bernie's recent attempt to generate some coverage by mentioning Las Vegas and Formula One in the same sentence has been exposed as the absurdity it surely is.

Just wondering how long the American's will tolerate these races.

Formula 1 really doesn't make it easy for Americans to like Formula 1.

If you didn't catch the interview, Sky have just posted it.

Just typical Bernie misdirection. You can actually see the moment he decides to stop answering Ted's questions and change the direction and start answering questions that were not even asked.

Politicians do it all the time, and they do it somewhat better.

Interesting to see the differing levels of racecraft from Jenson and Kevin when being overtaken.

I think Ham will want to win at Brazil, but will settle for second and a WDC at Abu Doubli.

Brundle would be the ideal choice to take over from Bernie.
I largely agree. Although I was surprised by his comment yesterday (IIRC) that he would like to see 6 works teams, and have them each supply a customer B team.

I can't be too damning of that without hearing more of the idea, but I fundamentally disagree with the idea of having manufacturers running teams. I believe a healthy future is with independent teams of constructors.

Proof:

I thought it a little odd he that went on about his love of Porsche-a at quite such length when he was, I believe, there as a guest of Lotus.

(I know that Lotus F1 have next to nothing to do with the car makers in Norfolk, but you see my point)

It may not be as complicated as that. I met Brundle at about 3:00am on race day and he was rat arsed, the resulting hangover dulling him pre race.
What a legend.

The simple fact is you choose either Pay Per View, or Sponsorship.

You never get both.

The problem is that pay to view has worked quite well for football (soccer) in the UK and that has deluded many sports into thinking that if it works for the Premier League that it can work for any sport. I think that is pretty obviously not the case.
I quite agree.

The biggest difference though is geography - there are plenty of opportunities to go and see matches live in the UK, whilst only one British GP.

I'm not a football fan, but it seems like a good stadium sport - whereas if you watch Rugby at Twickenham you miss much of the pack action. Motorsport is often better on TV, you're more able to follow the race. It's surely no coincidence that the USA (who have NFL, basketball and baseball - all good stadium sports) have stuck with oval racing in massive stadiums.
