En route to Spa

Looking for some travel advice as we're heading to Spa in August for the F1.

Hoping to stop somewhere en route for biers with a short hop to campsite on the Thursday for the pit walk.

Google suggests a Northern route past Dunkirk, where we will stop for some of the war memorials, but then it's either North to Bruges across to Brussels, or more sourtherly past Charleroi. I believe the traffic around Brussels can be bad, so southern route is preferred at the moment.

Anyone have any suggestions or handy advice?

Thanks, great advice. Hoping to find a decent spot for overnight on the way so I think I'll look along the southerly route.

Bruge is lovely, but I'd like to get much closer without a longer drive to the circuit on the Thursday.
