Following on from the 'show us your' threads, I've had a few snotters over the years which have been brilliant, cars you leave anywhere etc, really cheap etc. All must be a few hundred quid and any other details you like...

My first and best.. 1989 Nissan Bluebird Turbo, bought for £20 with knackered turbo, grafted on Skyline GTS turbo, two years and 25k miles later only did oil change...sold it for £50 when MOT ran out.

Here's my current one, bought for £200 with 6 months tax and test, straight through last MOT, been 100% reliable, returns around 35mpg and is known as the 'bellend'

Which begs the question: When is a snotter not a snotter?
When you care about it and paid over a grand for it. You can care if it is dirt cheap, or you can have something not so cheap that you still run into the ground, but if you care for something not very cheap then it's not really a snotter.

That's what I think, anyway!
Yep, Got to be a few hundred quid, not bothered where you leave it, if you lock it, drive up kerbs etc. I do look after my snotters (change oil etc) but certainly wouldn't be upset if I put it through a hedge!

Very in my experience although there does seem to be a lack of good snotters near me.
It's a bit of a luck thing with me, I've never chosen any of them they just sort of came along. There's a few potentials in the 'sheds' section in the classifieds, this one looks ideal (but sold):

Is there reverse-pricing boasting going on here? Most of these sheds would cost high st punters a grand normally.

I'd like a T5 V70 if I could find a decent one priced well somewhere.
I think the thread shows what is about, I'm sure like me some people have 'lucked in' with some cars. I'd be amazed if some of them were to show up on a forecourt hehe

It used to drink a bit too so after a few thousand miles the oil was pretty much new anyway hehe

Spot on Ribena, was taken after an offroad motorsport event I used to do, hence the mud! You local?

Found a photo of a previous snotter...1990 BMW 535i. Only had it for a year as it had a habit of shedding parts, but also a remarkable trick of having a different electrical item not work every day and then fix itself........

Not bad for £800 a few years back

I wouldn't be bothered if it's straight, snotters normally have a bit of a history anyway. Mine was half in a ditch last weekend on a road rally.....

It's certainly not unusual, from what I have seen on doing some brief research. Often attributed to incorrect oil and filter change procedure.
Yep, not priming the oil filter can be very bad news for the EJ20. I've seen loads fail just after service.

Little Aygo, cheap to tax, cheap to insure, cheap to maintain, cheap to run.

Just a bit expensive on tyres...;)

It's about time an update is in order for my current snotter:

2 1/2 years in and still going strong, 25k miles put on so now at 118k, things done since purchase front pads / calipers, rear discs / pads, 4 tyres (£20 off ebay!), oil & filter x 2, air filter and it will need a rad soon as leaking slightly on the corner, so £300 spent on repairs so far. Never fails to start on the key in any weather and still drives well even when loaded to the roof, checked the fuel consumption for the first time on the last tank and 36mpg.

All for £200.....

After four years of totally reliable motoring the Suzuki is finally dead...it's been written off due to being hit whilst parked. It's now CAT C so not worth fixing for the MOT and the VIC test, so it's time to move on.
So the next snotter is this:

1997 Honda Odyssey 2.2 import, done around 100k miles, 10 month MOT, bought it whilst away in Cornwall on holiday. It needed a really good service, autobox oil change and a radio, otherwise it's in very good condition and mint underneath. Electric panoramic roof, A/C that works, captains chairs, the works!!

All for £500...

I love imported 'Jap Crap'. I keep finding new gems like this all the time. Nissan Largo anyone? (lol)

Seriously good work that man. Cap doffed.
Cheers thumbup

So the Suzuki went to the scrappie today, got £60 for it. So from buying it for £200 in September 2010, sticking 35k miles on it, getting £700 from the accident, spending around £250 keeping it on the road it's been the cheapest car i have ever bought!
Hopefully the Odyssey goes the same way....

Some of you guys have a different view of what's a snotter than me smile

Deffo under a grand, the lower the better. My last three combined were less than a grand...

So a year or so on and the old girl is still going strong, has even done a couple of road rallies!! Straight through the MOT, has saved twice the cost of itself for skips I would have needed for some home improvements, proper snotter!!
