Something that has been bouncing around for a while has been VAG injector problems - if you've had this problem, you'll know what it is - I would ask for someone more knowledgeable to post in to describe it definitively.

However, VW appear to be refunding the costs of injectors and/or replacing them FOC where/when they fail - This thread seems to cover it:

The post by bigburd in that thread is the one that refers:

You need to contact VOSA to report this as a safety concern prior to contacting VW directly - this is the link to VOSA:

A mate of mine has just told me that he contacted VW over the 2 injectors he replaced and they are replacing the remaining 2 and the loom as well as refunding him what he paid out for the injectors - worth a call to VW....

Interesting - so is this now an actual manufacturer recall? We have a Seat Leon with the 2.0 170ps tdi engine and had a single injector loom replaced last year, fortunately under manufacturer warranty. I'ts now 4 months out of it's 3 year warranty and we're dreading the fact this may happen again to the 3 old injectors - when we mentioned this to the dealer at the time (last year as mentioned) they stated they could only replace as they died and that if any went out of warranty then tough, we'd have to pay.

So does this mean I can now call the dealer and get it booked in for the remaining 3 to be replaced? And should they actually be aware of it?
I'd give them a call for sure... Expect a "we know nothing" answer though - if so, ring a VW dealer and ask questions about your "Passat"....
