Keep seeign cars advertised as having been decatted but they are newer than the cut off of 1991 (I think ) for the emmissions regulations, can some cars pass an MOT without a cat or would it be a case of refitting them/it come MOT time ?

Is there any legal requirement to have a cat in place as long as you meet the emmissions regs ?

Until next year when no cat on a previously cat equipped car will be a instant fail irrespective of emissions
Really, whats the reasoning behind that ?

Forgot about this, how many actually swap their cats back in and out every year ?

I have done loads of exhaust changes and mods but it is my least favourite thing on a car, exhaust bolts, in my experience tighten up fine but never, ever come off intact, I suppose if its a year there is a chance they may be fine but it sounds like a pain, or is it not that bad ?
