Reverse/brake lights on while driving... always a 206?

Maybe I'm the only one to notice this spectre of electrical gremlins occurring but why is it always a Peugeot 206? The scene is generally me sat on the motorway wondering if the little French POS is actually slowing down or attempting a J-turn on black ice.

Surely the car must have all manner of systems in place to make sure that such an oddity can't happen?

Or maybe the cars are just st?

Mum's Volvo V40 used to have a problem with the reverse light coming on whilst driving. It turned out to be a failed reverse selector switch or something like that.

Does the reverse light flash on when it's started up too, by any chance? I've seen that on Volvos. Very unnerving when you're filling up
