On 20th March (2012), we had our pride and joy, a 335i, stolen from our house in East London at around 10.30pm. We also have both sets of our keys still, much like other similar high end BMWs stolen, as noted on this forum.

Absolutely gutted - 57 plate, twin turbo, 30k mileage, sparkling graphite, Dakota cream leather interior, sat nav.. all the trimmings of a dream car.

No signs of smashed glass on the ground, no alarm sounded, and no immobilisor activated..just gone.

Have noted an increase in the number of cars, like ours, taken from East London area too...must be the same group of thieving ****s. We've been informed cars taken to the ports at night time for shipping to Europe, never to be found again.

Advise from police is not to buy a BMW again.

Gutted...

First post, so hopefully this information is of use to fellow BMW owners to keep their pride and joy locked away in a bunker somewhere away from these thieving ****s!

I find it crazy how BMW have not published something or contacted us to be more vigilent despite the police and insurance co advising not to buy these vehicles given the recent streak.

To answer your question, no chance, i wouldn't buy another BMW nor recommend one to any one else. Worked hard for years to buy this car only for it to be simply taken as a result of a lapse in BMW technology and someone's greed for ££££.

They've got a lot to answer for, though I am sure there is the ever so small clause in the purchase contract which means no liability is taken by BMW in these ludicrous eventualities.

A car which we we're told cannot be hot wired or stolen without the keys ... Having seen videos on YouTube, I am surprised BMW haven't done anything about it.

Frustrating to say the least given this has become so prevalent recently.

I really do hope we find her however chances remain slim...

I have contacted Watchdog with the details of my car theft - I hope that other victims of the same crime do likewise. Unfortunately, for us its a little too late (limited chance of getting her back) but if the number of calls increases, then something will come of this and bad press will defo hit BMW.

We bought our car in good faith from BMW, only for it to be taken using a simple method which exploits the cars OWN computer system to re-program a blank key and bypass all the security features.

There is a need for the general public (not just those on forums like us) to be aware of this so they can protect their cars...as BMW will not!
