Following on from this thread :

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

And that lovely Volvo 940 with 300k mentioned yesterday, I thought we could have a thread dedicated to cars for sale with mega mileages.

Feel free to contribute with your own cars / stories etc smile

A couple of Audis here with well over 200k on them smile

Neither actually look that bad!

It would be interesting to buy something like this and see how long you could run it for before it threw a massive bill at you.

Would be nice to show these to the "cars become unreliable after 50k" brigade hehe

Great article! It is a 2.8 Quattro automatic, I am amazed that the gearbox is original! smile

That Escort must be a typo... hehe

A Laguna with 285k?

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2012...

Or a mk4 Astra at 233k? I think this is more of an achievement as my Astra with the same engine was dead at 75k!

That A6 looks fantastic! Did you see the news article in the other thread about an A6 2.8 Quattro (older one than yours) that is on over 500k still with original engine and gearbox?

What engine was in your one?

Lovely car smile

Wow. My parents had one that they ran to 130k. It never went wrong, but I remember it getting more and more rattly every time I came home from uni and drove it.
Wonder what sort of mileage the previous owner was doing on a monthly basis? Noticed this in the ad which sounds iffy but given mega mileage...

SERVICING WAS DONE BY HISELF WITH THE OIL,FILTERS FUEL FILTERS CHANGED EVERY MONTH
Well it averages at 1700 miles a month over the lifetime of the car, it could possibly be that the current owner bought it on average mileage and racked up silly miles over a shorter period of time?

Complete service every month sounds a bit overkill, but then the car is £385. If it runs, drives, and an get through an MOT you are doing well hehe

There's a fair number of cars in PH classifieds with high miles http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2823526.htm
Wow, that is brilliant!

I wonder what condition that is in as it sits... Someone will need the brave pills!

Some great stuff appearing in this thread, that Civic looks pretty good for its mileage, I know one on 50k that looks a lot worse.

What sort of condition is it in? Did you have any reservations about buying a car with miles that high?

Completely forgot about this thread - love the new Jetta with 92k! yikes

Here are a few more:

Both seem to wear the miles well, especially that V70!

It really makes you wonder, doesn't it? But then in the last 2 note how you can't clearly see the drivers bolster. Even still, I have seen much worse interiors on cars with less than half the miles.

ETA - from the barge thread:

Saw this in another thread, worth a mention here even if it is just for the advert:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-80-TDi-Estate-Stars...

Some great stories, glad to see some people are not scared of a big number on the dashboard smile

I do find myself drawn to it! Would love to take it to a million miles, just to say I did hehe

I wonder how many turbos / clutches it has been through?

Damn, if that was closer I can really see myself going to have a look at it. I have a problem!

I got rid of my 190,000mile S70 just over a year ago. I miss that thing, was a great car. Just a shame it was gonna hit me with bills about 2x what it was worth. Which reminds me, the chap doesn't mention in the advert how recently the injector pump belt and tensioner was done. 50mpg from such a big car was fantastic.
Have to say, I have never been in one frown

If it has made it that far, I doubt he has skimped on maintenance too much hehe

Found this, who is feeling brave?

Not massive miles but cracking 200 thou before it's 4th birthday is fairly impressive.

That is very impressive, good find!

These seats look in very good nick too considering mileage - I have seen cars with half the mileage that have looked worse inside. The passanger side looks like it has hardly ever been sat in!

It mentions a warranty in the ad, I wonder how much that would cost on a 200k mile car? smile

Sold as a write off due to a scratched door and scuffed bumper!
Just noticed this, wow! I can't believe they would write it off for just that frown

Anyone feeling brave?

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2012...

It could be totally fine, but it sounds like the cambelt needs done and these turbos won't be cheap when they blow...
