Much love for this. A bloke at my old office in Stevenage (from whence I have now escaped, thankfully) had a saloon one with what must have been some aftermarket pipes - it sounded like a Spitfire taxiing!

The Rover versions are even rarer and thought to be better suited to the lazy powerplant, or so say the beardoscenti at AROnline.
Have a chat with Bill on here - he had a supercharged one - truly epic soundtrack and performance

Only bork I've had so far is the dash sometimes wrongly informing me a bulb has gone.
Have you fiddled with the rear number plate lights? Stopped it on mine... biggrin
The brake light switch starting to fail can cause all sorts of issues on Mercs. I had false warnings of faulty light and faulty abs/ESP. Also the cruise control was intermittent, and when it finally died all the brake lights came on and stayed on. In the end it was a bit of a fiddly job but the main dealer part was only £11, cheaper than the aftermarket crap from europarts which is not recommended.
The other option is to just re-seat the headlight bulbs in their holders - this has sorted mine out.
