Its 68.9 mpg figure is derived by employing “torque multiplication” to its transmission so when in top gear at 70 mph, its freight-train-powerful diesel lazily lopes along at just 980 rpm.
At 980 rpm, much less fuel is being consumed, so it gets mileage as good as or better than a carefully driven Toyota Prius. Even at such low engine speeds, however, around 700 pound-feet of torque is ready at the driver’s disposal. With a rather large fuel tank on board, the theoretical range on one fill-up is over 2,000 miles – just what is needed for a “grand tourer,” right?

a amazing diesel it is and very fast so it seems.
the good thing (compared to say TVR and some others chassis)
is the chassis which is stainless>>

The Trident Iceni Grand Tourer is built on a stainless steel 4003 grade chassis which is guaranteed against corrosion for 100 years. Trident claim that this chassis is extremely strong and offers class leading torsional rigidity. Furthermore its central longitudinal spine (roll over bar) and strategically positioned folds and shapes within the chassis, offer high levels of driver and passenger protection against frontal and rear impact. The body is an unstressed composite unit which is bolted to the separate chassis.

All that horsepower and torque translates into some rather bizarre performance figures. 0-60 mph takes just 3.7 seconds, and the top speed is in excess of 190 mph. Nothing too unusual about that for a supercar. But amazingly it has a range of over 2,000 miles on a full tank, and sitting at a steady cruise speed of 70 mph it returns 68 MPG!
