Renault Scenic problems

The rear wiper on my 1999 Scenic is playing up. When you activate it from the steering column switch it is supposed to squirt water on the screen then the wiper blade will move back and forth 3 or 4 times then stop. For some strange reason the wiper blade just keeps going and doesn't stop for about 5 minutes. I've been told this might be the wiper relay but I've no idea where it is. I've been told it could be under the dashboard with the other fuses or under the bonnet somewhere. Please could you help as I really can't afford to take it to a garage to get it sorted out. Thanks.

Hi. I've got the handbook that came with the car but it is quite vague about fuses and doesn't even mention relays. I've got a Haynes manual which is quite good and has wiring diagrams,etc but doesn't show where the relay that I want is and colour,etc. I'm quite happy to go to a breakers yard to get one but until I can find the correct one to replace I'm stuck. Any ideas?

Ha Ha yes I guess you're right there. If I remove what looks like a relay ( approx 1 inch square plastic box which comes in various colours) would that only stop the timer function or the would it stop the wiper from working completely? The front wiper is fine by the way.
