When did you last see a gunked-up oil filter?

The point being that if the filter looks clogged up then you've left it too long. The whole point of servicing is to replace items BEFORE they cause a problem.
Yes, that's what interests me. I run my cars long on their service intervals but always using proper modern oils. The impression I get is that these expensive oils really do work. The point being that if the filter looks clogged up then you've left it too long. I'm intrigued by these occurrences of failed filter elements. Do we know if they are junk bought on ebay or something else?
My own opinion is that it's never worth fitting any oil filter other than OEM or at least a very reputable brand from a very reputable supplier. No point risking your engine for the sake of a £5 saving on the filter.
