I bought a superb Porsche 944 recently and it is like a time warp machine being almost perfect...............however about once every 100 starts, it does not fire or make any attempt to go and due to that, its a worry you might get stranded.
I suspected the imobiliser and traced the wires to a horrific sight!
All the wires were not soldered or even Scotch blocked, they were all just wrapped and taped up, perfect if you want fires and unreliability, I just find it hard to believe the stupidity of some people. I soldered and shrink wrapped all joints and it started and ran like clockwork.
We shall see after 100 starts if I have solved the problem.

What is the worst bodge you have done or seen?

It doesnt bear thinking about. Almost certainly fked, but hopefully patched rather than simply ignored.
Naturally I expected the "whats it like under the sill covers" comments.

The answer is that looking through the vents there has been welding done and it looks like a proper job instead of the usual garage pigeon poo and underseal. However they will come off cos I dont like them and I reckon 944's look better without.

The car is heaps better than the many that I have driven.

Loving the bodges.
Especially liked the caravan wheel strapped on to a corner!

Dolomite Sprint a country lane so narrow only one car and on a hill, the throttle cable snapped just to add interest to the scene.
Wife, using a pair of pliers through the window operated the throttle while I did the rest, we got home safely even the gear changing was good, what a team.

Going home and blasting down a hill in my TR4 back a few years I braked hard to go round a bend and the rear brake hose burst! One pair of molegrips clamping the offending pipe together I drove carefully home.

This summer (just gone!) at Castle Combe doing a track day in our Quantum 2+2 CVH Turbo and found that the camcover oilcap had decided to live somewhere round the circuit. It just so happens that the antifreeze bottle that we keep spare coolant in cap fitted a treat, however it now sports a new Ford one.

My daughter bought a Nissan 200x in the Bath area from a "private" dealer and he said the brakes need looking at..............after driving it the 80 miles home to Hampshire I found that it was actually missing a front brake pad, but who needs brakes?
