I went down to the BCA Bridwater last week as VW/Audi were having a disposal sale.
I'd pre-printed the auction brochure and gone through it finding like for like vehicles on Autotrader , what I wasn't expecting were the silly price's. Most vehicles were going through at higher price's than autotrader, add to this the huge buying premium and I do wonder what exactly was going on. Most vehicles' were being picked up by a chap from Audi, but he seemed to be rather carefree with his bidding. I'm sitting there looking at a Audi which I know I can get for £14000.00 at an Audi dealership in Bridgend and he bids well over this and beyond. This seemed to be the pattern for the day - unless you wanted a VW estage or saloon and they were cheap.
I just wondered if these guys get discounts if they buy more than 10 cars, I know there buyers premium is peanuts compared to the average Joe but seriously this chap even one the raffle !!!!
I'd love to hear people's thoughts on this as I know my prices and these price's seemed to be a joke.

I noted that VW, Audi and available car were all there, this was a fleet disposal, mostly cars under 3 years old, some with nice low mileages, I did my research first as I've always got my head in autotrader ( at the moment autotrader cars seem to be cheaper than eBay!?!) I know my prices and had set my price, the first car ran through which was a VW UP, I went for £500 over what I could ge one for on Autotrader...at a dealer, this trend continued for the day. I'd found a dozen or so cars on autotrader, same spec, mileage within 3k or so all cheaper and I must admit as car after car went through I'd considered these " dealers" being in la la and as there prices would only go up once they hit he forecourt.
I must admit that I was disappointed bu needed to go as its my closest BCA now that Cardiff have closed, I went 4 years ago and had a nice deal but it would appear that thoses days are long gone ( sadly)

Price too low? Err no.
When I'm clutching a printout from auto trader for an Audi a4 tdi on a 10 plate with 32k miles on that comes with 12 months " all component warranty" from an Audi dealer, I strangely expect the same car to run through an auction for between 10 to 12k when Audi themselves can sell me the car for 14k.

I've found out that car craft normally pay over the odds...you have to wonder why, call in and try and pay cash and you'll see why. They rely don't want to deal with you, they like you to take finance as this is where they make the cash.

As I suspected, buying price is irrelevant, finance is where they make the money, thanks I thought this might be the case and it's nice to know.

Yes, used cars, go to trade centre Wales and tell me the don't finance used cars, try and buy with cash and see what obstacles you encounter.

"I'll give 10% more than webuyanycar sounds like a novel idea"..and there's only one way to find out!

My cars 7 years old and Warranty direct still offer me extended warranty to buy, so you can get finance and warranty easily on a 7 year old car with 128k miles on, no doubt a service package is also available!

So basically don't bother with the auctions!!

I called into Available Car in Cannock two weeks ago and they wouldn't move an inch on price, even though I pointed out that the front end had had a respray aswell as the door which to be fair on a 13k car needed to be better quality. And it didn't even come with 12 months MOT! I offered them 12K and they wouldn't budge on price BUT did try and get me to buy scotchguard ( 12 quid in Tesco and you can do it yourself they wanted £199.99) and lifeshine and a good few hundred quid!! I left there feeling disapointed as if you can't move on price then the girl handing out the car list's as you walk in might as well take the cash too, no point in having a salesman if you can't haggle !!!!

I went to see a car which the dealer said was "mint" had it of been mint then 13k would have been correct. Had the dealer fixed the paintwork with a decent respray instead of a poor one again I would have been happy, given that however he did not then I would have had to address this front end respray, hence a discount WAS in order for me to restore the looks of the car. It's a buyers meet, I'm in no hurry and these cars are only going one way in price and it's not up. Come January they have the traditional sales and 1 to 2k will be quickly removed from the sticker price!

As for he manufacture looking after the dealer....no. Manufacturers couldn't care less, the demand you by "special tools" which are overpriced, make you pay for THEIR sigs to put up on YOUR building and then fog you overpriced software to plug into their cars. I'm not a spring chicken but I've been about and now this is a regular thing. Audi even send around a mystery customer and if he finds dents on cars at the prestige dealership they fine you. My neighbour is the customer service manager at VW, he's also worked for Audi and this was a regular thing.

Well u can choose to believe or not, everyone has a choice and or opinion. The dent chap does exist, why would a customer service manager lie?
I've never paid sticker price in my life, not about to start now. 4 years ago Audi gave me £500 off and free delivery on a nice a4 tdi. 7 years I got £400 quid off and free delivery on a Golf 4 motion from a vw dealer. Discounts are there, if I don't get one I walk away...simples. The market is full of cars, dealers everywhere, and it's a buyers market, if one dealer don't want my cash, there are plenty that do. I never part e though, always sell the old car privately which helps.
