right so as the subject pretty much says it all i will add a bit more info.

just passed my test not even a month ago and i have around 1500 for a car. Ive been looking at Corsa Cs and fiestas simply because the insurance ive been quoted on them (1.2 - 1.4) is around the 1000 mark. After looking at a lot of corsas recently (1.2 16v 02-03 models mostly) ive been hearing alot of people saying dont get them.

Can anyone advise me on a good first car as i dont want to be regretting my decision after i have bought the thing lol

any advice would be very helpful, thanks

Insurance for £1000? You're having a laugh! I passed my test 2 months ago, been insured for 2 weeks now.... £1800 for a year, on a Ford ka.
Im 24 tho. 25 in less than a year so that might have a big part to play in it. Also its going to be getting kept in my drive so that might have bumped It down a little. Ive actually found that sometimes im £80/£90 cheaper on comprehensive insurance then 3rd party, fire and theft which I wasnt expecting :s.

I habe looked at rovers also but i really hate the look of them so even tho its cheap as chips i want something im going to enjoy driving smile

Corsa C would make a great first car at that kind of budget.

They are perfectly acceptable to drive. You should be looking for the twinport model which I think is anything newer than a 54plate IIRC.

Timing chain's are noisy if not done and you will certainly know about it and if they let go it will damage engine in a big way. Try to find one that's been relatively well looked after with some form of history, but if it hasn't got any service it yourself. Buy one with 12month MOT.

I sell a lot of these as 1st cars for people, and think they are good value for money.

If the chain, headgasket or something fails plenty of parts knocking around at breakers and they are not that hard to source/fix. Nice and cheap for tyres brake pads etc aswell.

SXI models in black are the easiest to sell. The design is probably cheaper to pick up, basically the same car only has black dials and is colour coded rubstrips with marginally different seats.

I have an 05 twinport 3dr sxi black on 89,000 miles which I could probably retail for about £1500/£1600 the first week of January. Definetely go for one of these facelift cars.

Not the most exciting or PH of cars but I know a fair bit about them and have probably sold 30 this year.
Funnily enough its a twinport 3dr sxi ive mainly been looking for past week or so. Defo thought parts wouldnt be to difficult to pick up at breakers but since im not exactly the most intelligent lad when it comes to engine problems I thought I better ask advice on this kinda thing before I "splash the cash"
