As someone has just pointed out the long standing Pistonheads tag line "Speed Matters" has disappeared.

Apparently speed no longer matters on Pistonheads... sad day frown

Ironic that only the other day I got an email from Pistonheads showing some of their new T-shirt designs including some proudly displaying that it was founded in 1998 - It's come a long way but not all for the good it seems. frown

This plus the proliferation of adverts certainly signals the beginning of the end. It's a shame but all good things come to an end. It appears Haymarket are going to slowly kill the site.

Speeding and adverts for insurance companies are not happy bedfellows.

Luckily, most PHers are grown up enough to realise that speeding on the roads is stupid anyway.
However some remember when the site had a levity to it (and far fewer adverts and pop-ups) and wearing a Pistonheads T-Shirt with "School of Speed" or "Speed matters" was amusing. Forgive me for picking on your post but there's a gulf of difference between an amusing tag line and condoning reckless driving. Your remark about speeding really goes unsaid.

You are quite right, and I am aware of the distinction, but advertisers will be wary of this tag-line, and there is a boy-racer element who won't get it either.
True...

There is an option on the front page to change to the old header.
Although if you opt for the old header it reverts to the new header next time you visit.

It's two words on a website - ffs get a grip.
It's not the words, it's the intent behind the removal.

I think it's a shame, this place has been heading downhill for some time now. Still, I don't pay to be here and when the ads got ridiculous they got blocked. At some stage I'm sure I'll just realise I rarely visit any more like many of the sites I've been involved with over they years (most of those at a admin/mod level, not even just a 'user' as I am here).
Out of interest, which ad-blocker do you use?

They actually took out an advert explaining the name change but unfortunately, as we all use ad blockers, we didn't see it.
That's ironic isn't it! They pepper the site with ads so we all use ad-blockers, then they ignore questions on a forum instead placing an advert! You couldn't make it up biglaugh
