M40 northbound at Warwick yesterday afternoon. Joined from the A46 and my heart sank as the stationary traffic came into view. Eventually turned the engine off after there were more vehicles behind and settled in to await the emergency serviced to whizz down the hard shoulder.

Some drivers further down, in the adjacent on slip and behind start to turn around and drive back up the slip onto the busy island, despite joining HGVs and cars, some of whom would have had an obscured view as I had. Chump in a Defender even comes up the grass verge to get around turning vehicles.

Guy in front wants to follow suit but part way through doing so needs more space and wants me to move. He may have somewhere to be, but so have I and as far as I'm aware he's about to do something dangerous, disruptive to traffic on thr island and endorsable. I don't move and won't unless Highways/Police come to manage the situation - they're based a mile or so away.

Wrong?
