I've recently bought a 59 plate Twingo 133 and it only came with one key. For obvious reasons, I'd like to have a spare.

Is there an alternative to getting shafted by a Renault Dealer?

Don't fancy spending >£100 on something I'm likely to never need.

If you want buttons or anything clever like keyless entry or keyless ignition I think you need a dealer one.

Timpsons will do you one that will unlock (the old fashioned way) and start the car for about £60.
Thanks.

Just a key with a lock and unlock button, no keyless gubbins.

I heard there was an issue with using an old fashioned key on cars with immobilisers etc. In all honesty, I'd just rather have a 'modern' key.

So far I can only find key 'shells' on eBay - these don't have any of the internals and are apparently to overcome the issue of buttons breaking. I'll keep looking.

To clarify - The £60 Timpsons one includes the programming of a little chip that disables the immobiliser so that part shouldn't be a problem and it will look modern enough, it just won't have any buttons on.
Ok, great.

Unless I can find a better option I think that's what I might go for.
